The outer layer is composed of hand stitched felt sheets. Wool roving is needle felted to produce the body shape. Needle felting is a technique where you repeatedly poke wool roving with a barbed needle to tangle, compact, and shape the fibers.
Plague doctors treated victims of the bubonic plague. Their beak like masks were filled with aromatics to protect them from putrid air which was thought to be the cause of infection.
